Doug Vargo = James Bond

Too old, too slow, dickie hamstrings and busted fingers. It been all too much for Doug "Glamourboy" Vargo. 2006 saw Vargo play 50 games and manage to reach the 100 goal and 300 point mark in the North West Pacific Australian Rules Football League. Other traumatic events include, a busted schnozzer in season 2004 by former Eagle tough nut, Stewy "Pumps" Green. With his Glamour slowly eaking away, Vargo decided to hang up his boots and retire to ensure that he does not lose his metrosexual good looks. And what a great decision it was! Vargo has certainly landed on his feet! Shortly after kicking his last point in scenic Las Vegas, Vargo was in front of the camera completing a screen test. Vargo put together the performance of a life time, after some acting lessons from renowned sports theatre actor, Peter Taylor. Doug was able to secure the most sought after leading role in the movies, James Bond. Look to see Doug "James Bond" Vargo in a theatre near you as he tackles the Bond Girls in the Bond blockbuster, Casino Royale.

US NATIONALS 8 & 9 October

Congratulations to everyone for a great weekend down in Las Vegas. The BC Footy team came away with 1-2 record from our 3 games. Having narrowly lost both games on Saturday (15 pts to Minnesota and 8 pts to Philadelphia), the boys fronted up on Sunday for a well earned 2 pt win over Arizona.
More importantly the Burnaby / Vancouver players were excellent ambassadors for football in Canada, sticking around after our games each day to cheer on the other teams and always quick to put up their hands to volunteer to play for teams that were short on numbers.
Well done Division 1 Premiers San Diego who defeated Denver / Division 2 winners Baltimore Washington over Minnesota and Division 3 winners Las Vegas Gamblers who defeated Baton Rogue.
Congratulations also go to the girls team, Pacific Coast Highway, who were runners-up in the Women's Division.

A huge thank you to Peter Campion, Stu Grills, Tony Cooper and Chris Freeman for all their efforts on organising everyone, as well as to the US National Committee for putting on such a great tournament.

Vive Las Vegas

We are trying to get photo's from the Vegas trip up on the site. At this point please don't hesitate to visit the Vancouver cougars site as we were a joining team representing BC Footy and all pictures are of both clubs.
